Personal Branding !!
"My thoughts" on personal branding which is so
evident in an organization. Most of the times after a few interactions,
the person gets branded into one of the categories (aggressive, adamant,
soft natured, hard working, intelligent /smart, lazy etc...... and many
more such categories). But as they say "Change is only constant",
therefore a person who is keen to change and improve in their area of
weakness always works on his/her weakness. But with such branding
concept predominantly available in an organization, how does one change
the "perception" / "brand" ?
Dwelling deeper into this topic, "My Thoughts" started questioning how to change this perception and during one of interaction with my colleague, he mentioned about re-launching like a product.
But lets look at this from our personal experience , You used a
toothpaste and you found the taste of the toothpaste not appealing.
Although the purpose of toothpaste is not to eat. Somehow with great
difficulty you pushed yourself and finished the tube and cursed and
vouched for not using the toothpaste again.
After a few days you saw a TV advt where the company claimed "Re-launched new tasty and germ fighting toothpaste".
The company here, identified their weakness and is shouting out
that they have re-launched themselves and therefore, to make your
ex-customers to re-use your product one of the common marketing tactics
would be to allow them to use without expecting much profits /
benefits. But the important question is for how long ?
Also, re-launching calls for careful steps, if the perception doesn't change then it could cause a serious damage to the brand and repairing it would tend to be a very
tedious and difficult task.
Therefore it is ok / good to change company to escape from Personal brand / tag we wish to change.
These are "My Thoughts", do share in "Your thoughts"!!
Prasad, more often than not in case of personal branding it is First impression is the last impression with which we stereotype a person and howsoever he/she may re-brand or reposition self, our classification doesn't change. It is only some extraordinary performance/ output in short period of re-association or dramatically different sets of results by which you can reposition and only then the tag gets changed
