Deceiving Designation!!
Everyone of us are striving to grow in an organization, thus continuously and tirelessly working without understanding the contribution towards the organizational goal. Apologies for the harsh statement, but that's a true fact that most employees are tirelessly working today without having knowledge on the impact what their work would have towards achieving the organization vision / goals.
Why ? Because it feels good to be called Vice President rather than Manager / Officer ! Right ?
But please be open to the fact that "Designations" are deceiving! Lets look at below example. Here, do not bring in your opinion, look from majority perspective :
There are four job openings you have received with the below posts, what is the immediate reaction and which job would majority of them get attracted ?
Shouldn't take much for you to answer this, Of course majority of them would answer "Vice President", if you thought of a different answer, then good you are in right direction .....
a. Vice President
b. Manager
c. Officer
d. Senior Engineer
Designations are extremely deceiving and it is only related to the power trusted on to make decisions for organization growth. With the Pyramid structure, what if Vice President and Directors are sitting at the base of the pyramid ? Isn't that deceiving ?
In real life scenarios, so called Vice President of a company would be interacting only with Manager / Senior officer of a multi-national organization.
There are Lakhs of organizations in India and each organization has a General Managers / Vice Presidents / Presidents / CEOs / CFOs etc.... Therefore there are Lakhs of such position, do you believe each of those have equal understanding of market and business ? Absolutely "NOT". Therefore, these designations holds good only internally and has very little relevance outside. Outside it would only communicate the power you have within your organization !!
These are "My Thoughts", understand your roles better, gaps you need to plug to improve as a professional and not only in terms of achieving the deceiving designation !
