Are we spending our time and resource on 'RIGHT' customers ?

Traffic signal is one of the most spent time for an Indian commuter and recently when i was passing through the signals i happened to notice a defined pattern by the beggars / homeless
For them we are customers and i noticed that they were quickly able to identify who would lend them money and who wouldn't. They had a quick 120 seconds only and covering maximum number of vehicles would maximise their earnings too.

Higher coverage of vehicles -> Higher would be their earnings

Having observed the same at few more traffic signals, i realised that it is indeed important for us too in organisations to spend our time with right customers. Customers who were interested, customers who would provide us with the orders. After all, we all have same amount of time and its effective "TIME MANAGEMENT" which will give us success.

For me Customers are of 4 types :

Time Wasters:
These type of customers are not interested in your product / service and they don't provide orders too. Sometimes its with the attitude of the customer and therefore, we need to minimise as much as possible in spending our time with such customers.

Un-Aware:
These customers start low on orders and would like to try out product / service to get feel and see benefits the product can offer. Failing to address their issue would either move the customer to Time-Wasters or Temporary customers. Therefore, we need to understand the need of the product from the customer and accordingly provide the solution.

Temporary / Pushed Customers:
These customers don't have much interest in product / service and are only being pushed by sales person to maximise orders / achieve personal targets. Yes, a very common practice have seen across industries, where sales representative pushes the product to customer and thus adds on to their inventory.

Loyal Customer:
These customers have used product and are completely aware of the benefits / quality and have weighed the options well against competition and see the clear benefits of using the product and therefore, are loyal. Therefore, it is prime responsibility of the company to retain the loyal customers and keep a close watch to not lose them to competition.
"Its takes years to gain confidence and get loyal customer, but few mins to lose one."

Lets summarise the style to be adopted by company in a 2 x 2 matrix  to each of these customers.

These are "My thoughts" on different type of customers and how we need to be a chameleon by changing our ways and approaches towards each such customer. Identifying them is the key to this approach.

Do share "Your thoughts"!!
