STOP believing everything you see in Social Media !!!

It all started from 2004 with the birth of Orkut and Facebook in same year. In initial days everyone were tilted more to Orkut and with time Facebook gained popularity and finally Orkut had to face its natural death like any other product.

Social media earlier started as platform to share your recent vacation, functions etc, but today has kept most of us 'busy' on to our smartphones. When I say 'Busy', it's according to comScore 2017 Future in Focus report, which measured an average person spending time on Top 5 social media which covers (Youtube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter) a person spends close to 2 hours on these media with 66% of interactions happening through smartphone and remaining of interactions over desktop.

Average daily Time spent on Social media :

Above clearly means we spend around 1 hour 56 minutes on top 5 social media, when you further consider other social medias like Linkedin, Dubsmash, Quroa etc, the average hour goes beyond 2.5 hours a day. Plus when you add messaging  apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, Skype etc... The avg time further shoots up and is close to 3-4 hours a day.  Before you read any further just re-visit how long do you spend on social media a day ?

When one spends around 3-4 hours a day, it is also the source of information / news gathering for most of us.

Facebook in initial days was an app / page used for sharing photos, views, finding your old school friend with whom you had completely lost touch, has now turned out the other way. People have started be-friending / un-following their friends due to difference of opinion, comparing their lives with that of others resulting in demotivate. Many psychologists have expressed their disconcern over this trend.

Also, many form their own opinions over various fake posts floating around. This has been noticed and many companies like Facebook have advertised and educating the users to identify fake profiles and posts.

Here, i personally created a video showing how a fake post on Twitter can be easily created in a minutes time.

See how easy it is with a simple tool to create something fake. Imagine with better tools how one can make it more professional ?

Another post on Facebook from one of my contacts publishing on 17th April, 2018 for an incident of Dec 2016 and questioning the then CM of state ? Posts can not be withdrawn but they can reignite the anger using an old post and people really have no time to check the posts.

Yet another one shared by one of my contact.  A post circulating in Facebook below. Do you have the geo-location of these 2 photos saying where they have been taken ? Even if yes, does it really matter ?

Come on people ! Let us not allow Social Media to create differences amongst us. Say no to division. Be responsible before you post anything on Social Media, try to restrict your usage of social media !! Don't feed the ones who want to create division ! They will die of hunger!!

Set few ground rules on usage of social media. Think first before you start believing in everything that you see on social media. If you don't have time to check the source / information of post, 'STOP' spreading it.

Also, be clear that you sitting in one part of world cannot change the opinion / thoughts of another person who is sitting in another part of world through social media. So, there is no point in people throwing nasty comments over each other. Just refrain yourself getting into such topics.
