4 Types of Employees ! Identify them into each box and move !
Most of the time it is not about time management, it
is about energy management and how we utilize the energy towards
achievement of the tasks towards the organizational goals. There are
strategic and operational topics in our routine and the effective
utilisation of energy is the key for smart achievement of these goals.
According to "My Thoughts" i would equate
energy with enthusiasm of an associate. And categorizing these two into 4
different boxes we could term associates into each of these categories :
LOW Enthusiasm and LOW Energy:
These are those associates who are nothing but 'SEAT WARMERS' of
the organization (apologies on the word used, but that's a fact). They
have absolutely no energy and no enthusiasm and therefore, are only seat
warmers and are dangerous for the organization with respect to
overheads and spreading of negativity in the organization.
These associates are easily identifiable in terms of deliverables.
LOW Enthusiasm and HIGH Energy:
These are those associates who are in a particular role for a long
time or have taken up a responsibility not in their area of interest.
These associates needs a change in their role fitting their interest or
needs training to bring in interest in their role and need to channel
their energy and increase the enthusiasm amongst themselves.
These associates can be identified based on the creativity and ideas they bring on to the table.
HIGH Enthusiasm and Low Energy
These associates have the urge and interest to learn and with high
enthusiasm but low on energy. All they need would be a considerable
investment of their energy into training. They need mentoring into their
daily tasks for a considerable time after which they could be pushed to
the top most box in the matrix
These associates are those who bring in ideas to the table with less relevance to business
HIGH Enthusiasm and High Energy
The success of an organization would be with having most of their
associates in this box. This is the most ideal and looked for box where
both the organization and the associate can benefit and utilze their
energy towards the common organizational goal.
These associates are those who can be measure by creativity,
deliverables and also the idea they bring in with business relevance.
Again these are "My Thoughts" and would like to understand and learn from "Your Thoughts" as well!!
Well said @Prasad. However, HIGH Enthusiasm and High Energy individuals are always in the lookout for more tasks to complete and challenges to overcome. As a business, you should be able to utilise this or you will tend to lose them to other companies that may offer something to satisfy this appetite for challenges. A good balance of all the above may help a team progress faster than just one group of people.
ReplyDeleteA team of complimentary skills and abilities can help fill voids as a group. Imagine a group of PhDs working together. Worse than a non-performing team would be a negative performing group. One where ego clashes, overt competitiveness can and will bring the whole group down.
